Orange County Commercial HVAC Mechanical Contractor Company Works With Recycled Water Controls in Irvine
Orange County Commercial HVAC Mechanical Contractor Company, Ram Air Engineering is currently working on a recycled water controls project using Johnson Controls to manage this large water recycling facility under construction in the Irvine Ranch Water District.
Since the groundwater in California is considered a non-renewable resource, it is just too valuable to be used once. Through the use of recycled water in Irvine:
- Drinking water supplies are extended to more than 4,000 customers,
- The need for additional potable water facilities is reduced,
- The amount of treated wastewater discharged into the ocean is reduced,
- The reliance on costly imported water supplies is reduced, and
- Water supply reliability is increased.
The Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD) in Orange County is a national leader in reclaimed water. Beginning in 1963, a forward-thinking Board of Directors implemented their vision to integrate water recycling into the overall design of the community of Irvine, Orange County. The goal was, and continues to be, to enhance water supply reliability through a comprehensive reclaimed water program. As a result, IRWD’s scope of services was expanded to include wastewater collection and treatment services for the purpose of producing reclaimed water and began delivering recycled water to its agricultural customers within four years of its initial commitment. Today, IRWD’s nationally recognized recycled water program encompasses a wide variety of uses such as landscape irrigation, industrial processes, and toilet flushing in commercial buildings.
